This is archaic thinking and with today’s forward looking training ideas riders and their horses can easily be taught to be perfectly safe when leading and riding in headcollars. The Society insurance even covers riding with just a string round the neck on private property as the Underwriters have deemed the risk to be minimal.

From the very beginning the Underwriters knew that members must be encouraged to train properly in good horsemanship so they approached Vanessa Bee of Positive Horsemanship Training and founder of the phenomenally successful Horse Agility Club and asked her to develop The Good Horsemanship Society as an insurance inclusive membership only club which promotes good horsemanship through education and training rather than gadgets and restraint.

Vanessa does not promote one system or style of training believing that there are only two forms of horsemanship, good and bad and that it doesn’t matter what equipment the horse and rider are using as long as the result is good.

Launched at the end of March the website is still in the early stages of becoming a full blown resource for good horsemanship practices but as memberships continue to grow the indications are that the Good Horsemanship Society is set to be at the forefront of the promotion and development of good horsemanship worldwide.

For further information please contact Vanessa Bee

www.thegoodhorsemanshipsociety.com

mail@thegoodhorsemanshipsociety.com

First Horse Agility Competition!

http://www.successfulhorsemanship.co.uk/1/post/2010/02/first-horse-agility-competition.html

http://www.successfulhorsemanship.co.uk/1/post/2010/02/first-horse-agility-competition.html#comments

Uncategorized

Sunday the 21st February saw the first ever Horse Agility Competition held at the Mendip Stud in Somerset. It gives everyone the chance to compete without having to ride or spend hours preparing their horse for showing classes.

Horse agility comprises a variety of obstacles for the horse to complete, at the higher levels this is against the clock which makes it a great spectator sport in which to participate. Horse Agility tests your horse’s physical as well as his emotional fitness and tests your ability as a trainer to keep your horse travelling safely over the course effectively and with style.

To find out more about horse agility and how you can get involved go to http://www.horseagilitygb.com/index.html

Have fun with your horses and do send us photos or post them on the Horse Agility Club Facebook page we’d love to see what you’re up to!
